Sew this roll-up organiser in durable, water resistant fabrics with pockets to store pens, pencils, paintbrushes and other craft tools. This is a digital PDF Sewing Pattern that will be available for immediate download once purchased.

A beginner friendly pattern which is straightforward and easy to sew - with plenty of tips for sewing with waterproof fabrics - although you can make the brush roll in ordinary cotton or canvas. There is the option of installing metal or plastic snaps which requires having the correct tools as outlined in the accompanying video

Perfect for everyday storage, art classes or out in the field, this functional design comes in three sizes and is for both amateur and professional artists. It can also be used to store crochet hooks and knitting needles. Fold over the top and snap in place to prevent tools from slipping out, before rolling it up and securing with the tie to close.

FEATURES

  • numerous pockets for storing craft tools
  • fold over top with snaps to prevent items from slipping out
  • a fabric tie to close
  • three size options depending on the length of the tools

This is a detailed sewing pattern which contains 15 pages of step-by-step instructions, along with colour photos, making it perfect for the visual learner. All the pattern pieces are measure and cut, no printer required, with a bonus cutting layout for batch sewing multiple brush rolls. There is also a full length video tutorial for this pattern to sew a long with me!

RECOMMENDED FABRICS

This pattern is designed to be sewn with waterproof fabrics such as laminated cotton which is simply cotton with a polyurethane coating. It is easy to sew, wipe clean, washable and resilient, making it ideal for any item that requires frequent cleaning. It is also more environmentally friendly than traditional oilcloths or PVC coated fabrics minus potentially harmful dyes or chemicals such as lead, BPA or phthalates. Some laminated cottons are also certified as food safe. You will find a small selection of organic laminated cottons in my Shop.

You could use other fabrics such as ordinary or waterproof canvas, waxed canvas, vinyl or dry oilskin. If you are using cotton for your bag, I would suggest adding a layer of fusible medium weight interfacing to the fabric to make it equivalent in weight to laminated cotton. There is enough of the lining fabric for the exterior contrast along the base, or you can choose something like cork, vinyl or faux leather.

Fabrics not recommended for this pattern:

- Stretchy waterproof fabrics such as PUL or Ripstop
- Iron on vinyl which may separate from fabric
- Thicker vinyls or leather, unless you have a heavy duty sewing machine
