New Pattern: my Artist Brush Roll!
Share
I'm excited to share my latest pattern with you - not for a bag but to make my bestselling Artist Brush Roll! This versatile roll-up organiser comes in three sizes and is made to fit different lengths of paintbrushes for watercolour, oil and acrylic artists.
I first made one of these back in 2021 for Lily Pad Bakery, a chocolatier and cake decorator, to store her fine paintbrushes in a hygienic way while allowing them to dry naturally. The waterproof lining is perfect for mopping up any spills when the brush roll is being used.
It can also be used to store pens, felt tips, Sharpie markers, colouring or sketch pencils doubled up in the pockets.
The smaller size can be used for crochet hooks, with thanks to one of my pattern testers, Creations by Christina for this beautiful version for crochet hooks!
And the Extra Large size will accommodate knitting needles of varying lengths. I don't have many of those, but you get the idea!
The top folds over and snaps in place to prevent tools from slipping out when not in use.

Simply roll it up and close with the ties - perfect for everyday storage or to transport your tools to an art class or out in the field for a spot of painting!

My popular Artist Brush Rolls are always a conversation starter at my craft markets - I keep one opened out and filled with pencils and brushes for people to roll and unroll! They love the fact that it's so tactile and waterproof - and it gets them thinking about who could use one of these as a gift!
I show you how to make the brush roll in water resistant fabrics, but it could be made in cotton or canvas too. As a starting point, I have put together a list of Suppliers of Waterproof Fabrics, mainly in the UK but some international, that would be suitable for this project.
My Artist Brush Roll pattern is beginner friendly with step-by-step instructions, colour photos and a full length video tutorial to sew along with me! I'd love to see what you make with my pattern! Pop over to my Facebook group to share your creations.
And if you can't sew, I also offer a selection of Artist Brush Rolls in my Shop!
