The secret's out and I can't tell you how hard it has been to keep this beauty under wraps! This is my tester for a new pattern by Sincerely Jen - the Rachel Handbag (and Tote)* which officially launched at her mystery bag workshop with Sew Whatever Studio this past weekend!

Named after the effortlessly stylish character Rachel in Friends, this is one chic handbag! With a curvy top edge, that cute bow feature and perfect oval base, she'll turn heads wherever you go! I chose this stunning, quilt weight cotton "Zen", from the Enchanted Collection by Hang Tight Studio for Cloud 9 Fabrics, teamed up with a sumptuous tan faux leather.

Minimal hardware is required for Rachel* - the contrast accents really make this bag!  Let's take a closer look at that bow, hand cut and perfectly formed out of faux leather. And I love the two toned handles - so easy to achieve even on a domestic machine.

What you don't see are the two hidden slip pockets, front and back, between the handles for discreet and quick access to your phone, tissues, sunglasses, etc.

With her flat oval base, Rachel* can perch daintily on her own without toppling - she's just so ladylike!

The bag closes securely with a recessed zipper which opens wide for easy access. I chose a coordinating "Thatched" in gold for the lining, from the same Enchanted collection.

Inside there is a neat zipped pocket with faux leather overlay and a raw edge slip pocket, with more slip pockets on the other side.

When you're not holding Rachel* in the crook of your arm, there is also the option to attach a shoulder strap from the d-rings located inside.

The Rachel Handbag* was a delight to sew, is seriously pretty and I'm already dreaming up other fabric combinations to make another!
