A rather British Frankie!

A rather British Frankie!

It's month five of the Carried Away Pattern Collective's "Everyday Collection" and I had the pleasure of testing Alicia Miller's latest bag pattern, the Frankie Handbag Tote, for this subscription.

This is a generous sized tote bag which can be cinched in at the sides or let out for a wider bag. It has a cute patch pocket on the front which closes with a curvy flap and magnetic snap, with a secret slip pocket behind for your phone. Inside there is a wide zipped pocket and the tote closes with a twist lock. There is an option to attach a shoulder strap to the sides of the tote.

I chose my fabrics based on that stunning antique bronze chunky butterfly twist lock which I purchased from Bagmaking Bling on Etsy. Going with a winter look, the exterior is in this gorgeous 100% Shetland wool teamed up with a soft anthracite grey faux leather on the handles and base. The lining is in "Woodland Nymph Clover Butterflies" (Dear Stella) and "Sherwood Plaid" (Makower), both from Sew Hot.

The curvy patch pocket is a sweet feature on the front of the tote. The handles and connectors are in a dark charcoal faux leather and I added a couple of rivets for added strength. I love how they add a professional finish to the tote.

This is one spacious and deep tote! The sides can be drawn in with a swivel snap hook and d-ring, or left open to accommodate more stuff!
